PALM READING CHARTS

The palm reading chart or palmistry diagram is used when reading a palm to learn the important features of a hand. The palm reader studies the hand and then consults the charts, which show the locations of the lines and mounts of the hand.

The Palmograph Fortune Chart was a large wall poster that was popular from the 1920s to the 1960s. It was commonly sold by palmists at carnivals and hand-reading parlours. The chart shows the lines, mounts, and fingers of the hand, and explains their symbolic meanings. At the bottom are illustrated the seven typical shapes of the hand. The palmist could refer to the chart, and learn about all of the lines and mounts of the hand.
